Pietati et scientiis – for the piety and the sciences – the inscription on the facade of building tell us about its function. The Old Seminar planned by József Hild and completed in 1865 was home for 150–200 seminarians. During the turbulent history of the building it worked under different ownerships and functions, for example it served as a military academy, military headquarter, and military hospital as well.
The building was returned to the church in 1990. The renovation of the ruined building was an enormous task for the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest. The building was transformed to a scientific, cultural and educational center, restoring its original function and applying it to the present situation on the same hand. The delivery of the historic building and the blessing ceremony of it were held on the 2nd of September 2006.
